30 Oct 10: Coach Training and New Friends

I went for the first day of Coach Training at AKLTG today. It was very fun (to be expected), but I also learnt new things, and not all about coaching. I learnt more about myself. And I'm still quite confused. Which is good, cuz that means I'm learning, building neuro connections and getting smarter. Yep. ;)

Anyway, the reason why I'm so confused is because of this girl I met. She's enthusiastic and outgoing, but to the point (I feel) that she doesn't seem to have any sense of boundaries. It's not that she doesn't respect them, it's more of like, she doesn't appear to realise they exist, let alone the extent. Leme give you a few examples.

Today at lunch, one of my eyelashes fell and stuck to my face. She removed it with her finger. Okay, I'm not sure if it's because she's a girl, and feels comfortable with such contact, or it's just me. But since is didn't know how to react, I didn't, and let her remove the eyelash. Next thing, when we were walking to the MRT station, she said something funny and then grabbed my arm for support as she laughed. Again, how much of it is just me, I don't know. Regardless, I feel uncomfortable.

I mean, I came from a boys school, and didn't have much interaction with girls. So I feel uncomfortable when a girl constanly touches me. Not that I don't like it, it's just that it isn't the norm in my Model of the World. I don't know if it's normal in her world, or if she's dropping hints. Here is another thing I doubt myself in, because I historically don't recieve much attention from females in my generation.

Anyway, my solution, or rather, my gameplan today, is to find out alot more about her, and ultimatly find out if her behaviour is normal to her, or if she's dropping hints at me. I'm flattered if that's so, yet I'm not sure if I'd reciprocate.

27 Oct 10: Back at TP

Damn I was supposed to post this 2 days ago. See how lazy I am? Zzz...

Okay first 2 days back at school. Summary time!

Monday was awesome. I made a pact to myself, to get Zs (the grade representative of Distinction) for all my subjects. If I don't like a subject, I will force myself to. At the minimum, a B+.  I made files to file my lecture notes and tutorials, so that when I look at a subject for the day, I just grab the file and everything I need will be inside, hafta use a filing system, last semester, my notes were so disorganized and crappy. I must make the effort to organize. And so I did. I'm happy.

Over the holidays, I've been thinking I wanted to take Psychology as a Cross-Disciplinary Subject (CDS) more than I wanted Basic Financial Accounting (BFA), so I applied for a switch. Imagine my surprise when my lecturer, Ms Rita Choo (who, by the way, is one of the most awesome people in TP), called me and told me I could take both. I immediately accepted. My timetable's a little crazy, but I can cope. I WILL cope. I will EXCELL. People call me crazy, but I don't care. I had to buy notes for Psychology and Quantitative Analysis, a core subject of my course. Can you see that they appear to be on opposite ends of a spectrum? One so left brained and mathematical, the other so right brained, emotional and about understanding people and the way they think. So I guess it was kinda weird for an outsider to see me request notes on Psychology and Quantitative Analysis. ;)

Anyway, today was fun. First, we had CORE, which is Core Financial Business. We had to form teams, so 4 people (Lisa, Jie Ni, Zi Xuan and Qi Yong) had to draft the rest of us, in a modified wheel fashion. What that means is that, person A picks one person to add to their team, followed by person B, until person D has picked. Then the next round of picking starts with person B, followed by C, then D and back to A. And so on. I was quite sad to be one of the last picks, but it did tell me that I hadn't proven myself to be a very useful person last semester. This sem, I'm going to change that. I'm gonna be the one to add the most value to the team. Anyway, long story short, Lisa picked me, and I'm gonna put in my 100% for this project.

Okay Tuesday. It was a full day for me, as I had lessons til 4pm, then skating at 6pm. I'm just gonna skip straight to skating. It was after skating, and most of the skaters had skate off to Tampines 1 for dinner, leaving less than half behind. I kept going around, asking people to join me for dinner opposite, as I hadn't eaten, and my mum didn't cook for me. I usually depend on dinner with the skate team on Tuesdays. Anyway, no one wanted to eat, until I finally convinced Song to acompany me.

I guess it was a blessing in disguise, cuz we had a very deep conversation about the meaning of life, religion, and the end of the world. Very fun.

21 Oct 10: Python

When I started the Financial Business Informatics (FBI) course in TP, Problem Solving and Programming (PRSP) was one of the subjects I had to take. Before, I had no interest in programming, but I soon found it so elegant and logical, and since I didn't have Mathematics as a subject anymore, this became sort of it's substitute. I found it easy to understand, and found myself sailing through the class (I got an A). And although I'm not too proud of it, after the 6th lesson, I started to not pay attention to my teacher, and instead did the assignments in class. When I encountered something unfamiliar, I opened up the instructions sheet that my teacher, Ms Nami, had uploaded. This meant that I finished way earlier than my classmates, so I started on my project for the subject. Once, I realised that the class had gone quiet, so I asked my friend what we were supposed to do. He showed me, but I couldn't find the html file. I had done the php assignment earlier, but it needed to reference a html file, and I couldn't find it at that point. I took a look at what the php file required from the html file, and referred to past html files to create a new html file for this php project. Only when I had successfully completed the assignment did I turn to my friend and brightly said "Done". He looked at me and asked why I was so slow; he'd finished a long time ago. Only then did I realise that Ms Nami wouldn't have set us the task of making a html file when we weren't even taught. Apparently, when she had told the class to do the php assignment, she'd uploaded the html file there and then, and I hadn't bothered to check or ask for it.

That was the turning point for me. I realised that I wasn't just good at this, I had a knack for it. The next few weeks, I completed my project assignment with 3 weeks spare, while my classmates struggled with the last question: creating a Minsweeper game that plays itself, generating random numbers to open up random positions. That took me a while, but I eventually puzzled it out by myself.

Back to the present. Uncle Michael sometimes works with my dad, managing IT portions of projects. He owns an IT company, and has recently started teaching me this programming editor: Python. Since Monday (18th Oct), he told me to create a program that can check websites for certain pieces of information. Specifically, searching the html of a webpage to find the name and last price of Stocks. I stumbled over the first assignment, because I was unfamiliar with Python, and had no tutorial to guide me. My codes were messy, and the first 2 attempts I made only worked with assumptions. My search tool was clunky, and all these problems arised because I didn't know Python well enough. Eventually, I succeded. Actually, it was this afternoon, when I finally found the missing puzzle piece, and it worked like a charm. Assignment 2 (also finished today) was to upgrade this program: using a .txt file as a reference, without constant user input, so that when one item is changed on the .txt file, the Python file can still run. One only has to input data into the .txt file once, and the program runs.

For example, if I want to check my portfolio of 3 stocks: IBM, Dell and Citigroup. All I have to do is type it in the .txt file, along with the quantity of stocks and purchase price, and my program will check the respective webpages for the last price and current value of the stocks. If I want to add one more stock, say BAC, I just add it to the bottom of the .txt file and my program takes it all in stride, producing perfect results.

I'm very proud of it.

18 Oct 10: Options

I just finished attending a 2 day course called Optionetics. They taught me how to trade Options. Trading options are usually better than trading actual stocks, because there's much less risk involved. However, it is also tougher to understand, if you don't have a background in stocks and technical analysis.

I'm gonna open a trading account on my next birthday in February. Yay!

14 Oct 10: I'm back

Oh I've grown into a lazy sod, I have. Totally didn't blog about anything these past 3 weeks.

I've been working 8-5.30pm every weekday, so I've been kinda tired. Weekends are for Magic, and I've been quite busy since the new set came out. Filled with deck ideas. But that's for www.planeswalkerz.blogspot.com.

Anyway new developments: I started learning Options. Daddy's been teaching me and getting me to read books about it. I'm going for a 2 day course this Sunday and Monday. Quite interesting. It's like stocks, only with much less risk. That's awesome.

Skating: I've finally learnt the J-turn. Can't apply it on the cones yet, but I found the trick: I have to toe my left foot even before I pull it back. Then swing my shoulders for extra boost. I've also learnt Chap Chap, although still choppy. At least I've got the movement down, and my speed is picking up. My Korean Slide is still really slippery, I can't guage the roughness of the floor properly, so sometimes I lean back too far and fall backwards. Other times I don't lean far enough and I stop suddenly. I also fell alot. Feels like the floor beat me up.

Lol. Oh yea, 3 days ago on monday, I helped this girl who lost her way. I was walking back from Brendan's and she stopped me, asking for directions to Bedok South Road. She was heading towards Chai Chee, and since I was going to Bedok South myself, I invited her to follow me. Found out some interesting bits of info:

1) Her name's Vanessa
2) She's a year 2 in TP
3) She's in GET (Games and Entertainment Technology)
4) She smokes

Yeah it's kinda disappointing that she smokes (HATE SMOKERS), so I didn't ask for her number.

At least I feel good that I helped someone. :)

21 Sep 10: Work started.

Alright! I learned the K-Slide, or Korean Slide, today! Fun fun! Now I have a cool way to stop. My power slide is getting boring.

Work is pretty meh. Yesterday I was folding cardboard boxes, today I was in the clean room with Troy. We had to put on so many pieces of clothing that I felt like a Muslim woman- everything must cover up, only eyes can be seen. I put on my lab coat and was like, Good afternoon, Doctor Marcus, is our patient ready? Then I saw us in the mirror and was like: Its day 21 of the zombie outbreak. We still have not found a cure. And then I went inside and was like, woah, we're all blue ninjas!

17 Sep 10: Workforce Appreciation Day at RWS

7.50pm I'm at Resorts World Sentosa!!! And I get to go on all the rides free!! A unlimited number!!! And it's free!!! Whoo!!! Lol. I'm going on the roller coaster first. Related to Shrek I think. I haven't had dinner yet. Starving.

We went on a Dragon roller coaster. Not just any dragon, but on Dragon. Whoo!! That was exhilarating!!! But kinda short. ADRENALINE RUSH!!! I'm feeling good about my decision not to bring a bag. It would've been a millstone. We're going on the Shrek 4D Movie/Ride.

Shrek was pretty meh. Okay it engaged most of your senses except smell an taste, and it did have pretty funny puns, but overall boring. Especially after the ride. We had dinner. I had a Tandoori Chicken Wrap, which came with Lays potato chips and a Sprite. I wanted a Milk Shake, but their machine was broken. I settled for an ice cream sundae. It was $11.80 in total, but with my $10 voucher, I paid just $1.80, as far as I'm concerned.

Lol me and my food.

Anyway, we went on to Jurassic Park. The Canopy Flyer was first. Waited 40 minutes only to go for a 1 min ride. I was so bored I measured the intervals between each car that left. 25 secs. Lol.

After that we went for the Revenge of the Mummy ride. Now THAT is a ride. It was the best ride by far, and we went twice! The first picture they took, I wasn't even aware they'd taken a photo. My hands were up and covering my face. Lol. The second time I did my best to look bored in the picture, but I'd angled my face a bit too much, and I just looked stupid. Sigh..

We wanted to go for the Rapids ride next, but it was closed due to technical difficulties.

Overall the RWS is quite fun, but it was too bad the Red and Blue Roller Coasters weren't open. I wanted to go for that. None of the other rollercoasters went upside down...

I eventually left at 11.30, and I joined the longest que yet: the que for the monorail back to Singapore... Lol.

11 Sep 10: Asking a girl out for the first time

Today was... Weird, to say the least. I can't decide whether it was a good day or a bad day. I suppose a fully bad day would be better, cuz then I'd be able to be miserable in peace. Now everytime I think of all the bad things that happened today, I rememeber the positive things, and it totally spoils my negative mood.

I was playing in the Saturday Standard at Paya Lebar as usual, and I got the worst luck: land flood, land screw and colour screw. For those who don't play or understand card games, just know that it SUCKS. But it wasn't all about that.

I asked a girl I liked for a date. I was brooding about it since last week, since the post where I said "Begin each day as if it were on purpose. Live each day as if it were your last. End each day with no regrets." and I finally plucked up the courage to do it in a really stupid way. I smsed her. And that really screwed me.

Okay here's what happene in chronological order:
I registered for the tournament.
Sent an SMS to her, asking if she had any plans for this coming Monday.
Reply arrived: she said no and asked why. (At this point I was still feeling pretty good about it.)
Sent response: "wanna watch a movie?my treat"
Tournamnet started, match 1 finished.
Checked reply: she wouldn't allow me to treat, but sounded good, why not invite a few more people?
I sent back: "I was asking you out on a date"
Second match started, finished.
No reply
Third match started and it all went downhill from here. Got land flooded, then land screwed.
No reply
Fourth match: against Brendan. Sigh. Here I got colour screwed. And lost.
No reply
Then I got a BYE and that improved my mood abit.
Finally a reply: "sorry, I'm not keen to go on a date"
Devastation. (okay not really, but I did feel really disappointed)

Me = Stupid

Looking back, I should have asked her in person or over the phone. I mean, I wouldn't have had to wait for her to reply. But since I chose to sms, she could take as long as she wanted. I asked her later what took her so long to reply: did she recieve my SMS at the time I sent it, was she seriously considering it, or was she just busy? She said she was not with her phone until then. Sigh.

Strangely, I feel a mix of emotions: sad and disappointed, yes, but also... light headed and free. Like a great burden has been removed. At least, now I know she's not interested, I'll be able to put my energy elsewhere.

Lesson learnt: speak in person or over the phone. It's much easier to judge a person's response, and I'd get an immediate answer.

2 Sep 10: 2 Weeks???

Whoa crap it's been 2 weeks and 2 days since my last post. Man have u gotten lazy.

Anyway, it's about time I posted something, so here's a summary about what I've been up to lately:

JA Company is up and running. We're in the last 4 weeks of the competition and starting to feel the pressure. I've made 3 web pages for the company. Okay well not MADE in every sense of the word, but I copied some stuff and formatted it into a Facebook Page, a Blogshop and an Online Order Form.

Exams are just round the corner (next week!) and I'll admit I've not been giving my 100% to study. Sigh... I so can't wait til it's over. What kind of holidays are these? We get 8 weeks of no school, but 2 exams slapped right in the middle, at the 4 week mark. What logic is this? Lol.

Anyway, I've learned something last night (and that's saying something since I've not been studying :P ). I finishe reading this storybook titled Deadline. It's about Ben Wolf, an 18 year old boy who finds out he only has one year to live because of a blood disease. He decides not to tell anyone, and to make as big an impact as he can on this earth before he leaves. He'd really witty, and resourceful, and as the story unfolds, I reflect on how I would react if I was in his shoes. What would I have done given his circumstances? And it's not just the blood disease thing, it's his "projects" which he does to make himself known and remembered. It was very interesting and a wonderful page turner, and as I finished it, this is the lesson I took away:

Live each day a if it's your last.

I actually put a status update on my Facebook account a long time ago:

"Begin each day as if it were on purpose. Live each day as if it's your last. End each day with no regrets."

I have to say I haven't been following this philosophy, and it took me this book to realise it. I'm gonna adopt this philosophy (again) and I WILL make the effort to enforce it within myself.

17 Aug 10: New Wheels

Brendan and I went job hunting yesterday. Troy tagged along. The three of us went to Kallang so Brendan could pre order his shirt, so we decided to have lunch there. After that we had frozen yogurt. This was the first time I'd eaten frozen yogurt and it was awesome! Some berry flavour. But it was kinda expensive. How come the best things in life are free, but the next best things are so expensive?

Anyway, we went to Parkway Parade to job hunt and we saw Adrian Pang! Lol that was cool. Brendan saw him from behind and said, "Isnt that Adrian Pang?" I didn't recognise him at first, because he was walking too fast. Then he turned around and I was like OMG it IS him. Lol. The funny thing was, Brendan, Troy and I walked into a CD store (cuz there was an opening) and saw him again. Lol what a coincidence. Anyhow, we couldn't work there cuz we needed to be 18 and above. Damn.

Ah well.

We went to ECP after that, to see if there was work at the Skate places. I bought new wheels since we were already there. Gyro Titans. I wanted to use them today, but was too lazy to swap them in. :D Had a tiring day today. Went to TP at 11am, then went skating with Brendan at ECP, then went back to TP at 5pm, played Magic with Daryl and skated till 9pm. I learnt new moves though! Reverse Nelson and Reverse Back Nelson. Tough. My hips hurt. ;)

12 Aug 10: Editions to Routine

Skate Training again today. But it was at TP, not at Sembawang. Apparently, the court is closed, so we can't use it. Sigh. How is Team Micro gonna train us now?

Anyway, I modified my routine. Instead of Mabrouk-Great Volt-Crazy Sun-Back One Foot, I changed it to Mabrouk-Great Volt-Back Cross-Crazy-Crazy Sun-Back Nelson-Back One Foot.

This give me abit more stability, and is easier to transit from Great Volt to Back Cross. Need more practice.

I fell down alot. Now my ass hurts and I've got a battle scar on my left elbow. Sigh... Not to mention my wrist...

10 Aug 10: YOG Job!!!

Ah... nothing like another Tuesday. No SCHOOL!!! Whoo!! It's the beginning of an 8 week (roughly) holiday, and I only hafta go back in 3-4 weeks for 2 exams: BPM and SAS. That is pure awesomesauce. Anyway, today was the start of my volunteer job for YOG. I'm stationed at Changi Airport, and I basically have to provide tech support. My main job is to just walk around to check that the IT equipment is working. But today was super cool, cuz I got to hang out at the AIRPORT!!! And the provided free drinks, and cookies, and lunch (which wasn't that awesome, but I can't complain cuz it's free), and I'm gonna get a free ticket to Sentosa Universal Studios upon completion of my last day of work!!! Awesomeness.

Okay skating now. My back one foot is getting smoother, I'm feeling the bouncing rhythm very well. And I started work on my routine. Well, just part one: the first 20 80cm-cones. I'm gonna hafta learn Chap Chap for the 50cm cones, but I'm not sure what I should do for the 120cm cones. Anyways, my routine is this:
Mabrouk, followed by a Great Volt, then into a Crazy Sun, then Back Nelson for 2 cones then Back Foot the rest of the way. Feels good, especially when I pull off the Great Volt into Crazy Sun. I still can't do Eagle, so what I'm gonna do now is train my thigh muscles by doing splits. I used to be able to do splits comfortably, but I've lost a lot of my flexibility. Skating has helped me regain some of it, but I still need more, in order to stuff like  Eagle, Reverse Eagle, Reverse Toe Eagle, the Foot Gun/Rocket series, etc etc.

8 Aug 10: Revival

Wow I haven't updated this blog in a long while. I think I'm gonna hafta start blogging everyday again. So here goes:

Man this sucks. I've not been waking up on time to my alarm since last week. It's working- I checked. And I know I set it each night and turned the alarm on. I just don't get up. I mean, when I do, it's usually after the time to get up, and my alarm clock is off. I don't even remember getting up to switch it off. My only conclusion I that I've gone into unconciousness too deep. Zzz... I used to be able to pride myself in being a light sleeper, able to wake up at a moments notice, but now... No. Tsk.

Upcoming Events: I'm helping out with the YOG as a Helpdesk Agent Officer. How cool is that??? I'm an Agent AND an Officer. Hah! Lol. I get free bus rides from 10th to 28th August and after that the card can be used as an EZ Link. Awesomeness. I also got this waist pouch made of PURE AWESOMENESS. It's EXACTLY what I need. I'm gonna use it when I go skating, to store my drink(s) and stuff. I can also put my MTG stuff in there, and just carry my file. Whoo! I like.

26 July 10: Close call!

Wow today had a close call.
Business Process Management (BPM) project was due today and I was chionging since last Friday. I needed Microsoft Visio and the school labs weren't open on weekends. So had to chiong on friday and today. I was the compiler, which meant I had to arrange the whole report for the group. It would have been alright, but I (being my OCD self) needed the report to be in one format, needed the English to be corrected, and the charts to be all nicely aligned. I was in school since 9am today and all the way til 6pm, minus lunch and lessons, I was compiling. I finally finished it and it was 55 pages long. At least I got to practice my Microsoft Word skills. But whoo! That was close.

20 July 10: Not the best Tuesday.

This is not my favourite Tuesday. Not that I had a bad day, I just felt it could've been better. Today was so meh compared to my other usually exciting Tuesdays. Okay summary of last week.

I'm having skate trainings 4 times a week now. Tuesdays til Fridays. It's fun, but a little tiring. I took advantage of my 3 day rest (Sat to Mon) and allowed my legs to heal. My Crazy tricks are improving. I can do 20 cones a bit more consistently now, though I still frequently fumble with the Crazy Sun.  When I don't fumble, the whole thing is quite smooth, and definitly faster than before.

It rained today. Sad. We had to use the IITASc concourse, and the floor is really bumpy. Tough to do tricks or slides. I'm now working on back one foot, and I'm using back cross to enter a left back foot. I can only do 4 cones so far though. Grr...

Kay school now. I FINALLY FIGURED OUT QUESTION 4!!!!! Our PRSP project consisted of 4 questions, and questions 2 and 4 were more challenging than usual. I figured out Q2 after a while of thinking and trial and error, but Q4 had me thinking the whole 2 weeks. *satisfied sigh* I love programming... I'm getting closer to my goal of being the best programmer in class. Let's see how I do for the exams. Wish me luck!

18 July 10: New Blog

Alright, i've made the new blog:
packtodeck.blogspot.com

This is all about Magic, the Gathering, so go there and read the 3 posts that Brendan and I have posted!

14 July 10: Busy Busy Busy

Hmm haven't updated this blog for a while. Most of the recent exciting events were about Magic, The Gathering, and all that was put into planeswalkerz.blogspot.com.

Okay updates then. Skating. Trainings are now 4 times a week (Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri) because we have a skating competition coming up in September. I'm gonna improve myself as much as I can. I started playing around with moves I know already, tweaking them here and there just to see if they look nice or make the move easier while making it look harder. Most of them were flops. Lol. I did improve my Mabrouk though. Here's a breakdown of Mabrouk:
Front Cross, then
Eagle, followed by
Back Cross and
Reverse Eagle, then repeat.
I changed it to:
Front Cross, then
Eagle, followed by
Back Cross and
ONE FOOT.
This allows me to swing my right leg 180 degrees and with more accuracy so that it's easier to enter the front cross. It sort of works, but I'm still having trouble. The key is to maintain balance at all times. I'm hoping this will come in useful, because after I do it I can continue into a one foot, and then back into a Mabrouk or a Mega. The speed is way to great for a Sun, but I'm gonna see if I can slow myself down, then once I can do Sun, it shouldn't be much of a problem to enter any of the Crazy tricks.

We learnt half cross today. And I was the second one to get it! Yay! Leonard beat me, but our trainer Ping Hwee (?) saw me first. It was extremely awkward at first, but then I realised this is a move based around control and flexibility, and that speed is not an element in here.

Okay enough skating. Let's go to school. I think I'm slowly but surely improving. I'm getting more consistent with completing my school work and projects, especially programming. We're now doing programming in PRSP and ISOFun, and I'm catching on quickly. I think my reputation for being a good programmer is slowly beginning to grow, because some of my classmates are asking me for help, or even referring to me for checking. I feel good about that, but I've gotta be careful not to get a big head. I've already been told I come across as arrogant sometimes.

Remember I said that there was a girl I was interested in? Well, not anymore. Not much anyway. After having a nice long chat with her, I found that she isn't who I'm looking for. It's not that she has bad traits, she just has different interests. I've also decided something: I will not look for a girlfriend, I'll let her find me. My justification is that if the girl likes me, and the feeling is mutual, nature will take it's course. When I get a sign, then I will start to work on the relationship. I will wait for the right girl to come into my life, and if I have to wait an eternity, so be it.

Okay back to school for a while. I jut discovered that there is a free bus to TP from the bus 69 stops. I felt so dumb. Now I can get a free ride to school without wearing out my skating wheels. Yay!

New note: I'm gonna start a new blog this saturday. It's gonna be related to MTG, but because it's such a big thing, and since I'm (probably) gonna be blogging for Ernst and Brendan as well, I think I'll need a new blog, just so everything can fit in. It will be my first blog with pictures, which will be provided by Brendan.

7 July 10: Crazy

Oh man Friday is gonna be packed. Here's my schedule:

8am-11am, Some Etiquette workshop.
12.30-6.30pm Charity Golf thingy
4-5.30 JA Company Meeting
6.30-7.30pm BBFin Test
6.45-9, Parent-Teacher meeting
6pm-9pm Skate Training

How am I supposed to do everything at once??? This is one of those times I wish for cloning powers. Actually, I wish for telepathy and/or mind control powers more than anything. (more on this in a later post)

I'm not going for the JA Company Meeting or Parent Teacher meeting or the BBFin Test. We have a makeup next week. Yay... Lol. My Saturday is totally free though, so I can catch up on homework or projects and read up before for next week.

Poly life is packed. Especially when you're participating in so many activites and roles:

Class Rep
Skate training for competition
JA Company VP Marketing
Leader for 2 groups
4 concurrent projects
1 annoying (okay, not really) programming question

Sigh. I'm so sleepy. Nights, world.

Results and Changes

I got back my results for my term test and they were dismal, to say the least. I failed SAS. This was the paper that had the screwed up question. Lemme quote:

"For any of the FIVE SDLC phases, explain it's purpose and the deliverables involved."

Now hang on a sec, let's breakdown and analyse the sentence structure.

1) "For any of the FIVE..." this part tells me that there are 5 SDLC phases. I know there are 8, so I was stuck here abit as I was wondering when we had been taught 5 phases.

2) "...explain it's purpose..." this part tells me that I'm supposed to explain only ONE phase.

So right here I'm stumped. I was getting more and more frustrated as time went by, and I had to finish the other questions or else I wouldn't have enough time. Even after I came back to it, I was still pulling my hair over this stupid question. So, I failed.

It should have been:
"For each of FIVE SDLC phases.." or
"For any FIVE of the SDLC phases..."

I was so stunned that I didn't realise the question was worth 10 marks.

Hell.

The only subjects I really scored in were PRSP and CMSK, but those don't count because PRSP was too easy; almost everyone in class got an A and one person even got full marks. CMSK also doesn't really count becuse I wasn't a proper exam, it was just a test. And it was an email writing test.

I've resolved to work harder, focus more and play less. Here are some major changes I'm gonna make (well, major for me anyway):

1. I've deleted most of my games on Monique. I've only kept Tap Tap Revenge 3 and Unblock Me.

2. I will only roller blade on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

3. After the M11 Prelease this Sunday (which I don't think I'll be able to go for), all Magic will be strictly business. I can't afford to play much now. I MUST get Diploma Plus.

That's it. Those are my major changes.

5 July 10: Interesting conversation, very interesting person

I just had a very interesting conversation with an equally interesting person last night on msn. We talked about psychology and hypnotism and lots of other stuff to do with the brain. Talking to her was fascinating (if Ms Audra saw this conversation, we'd both get an A for sure), and I also learnt alot about myself. Good reflection time. I'm really interested in delving into this world, but I understand it can be dangerous, so I that's why I want to learn to protect myself. Set up defensive measures. Yeah.

She's fascinating because there was a lot about her I didn't know about, and I now that I've learnt a bit more, my interest is piqued. I have a feeling it's still just the tip of the iceberg though, and I'm looking forward to knowing this girl better. Yes, I like her.

Wish me luck.

29 June: A great day to end a series of bad ones

Man this sucks. I've not been feeling emotionlly well since Saturday. I'm doing this blog post to reflect and maybe see why. I think it started on Saturday, because on Friday night I was fine.

Saturday. I broke my watch. The stupid pin (which has constantly been falling out) has finally dropped and gotten itself lost in the grass at ECP. Dammit. I feel so naked without my watch, and I'm getting myself frustrated by looking at my wrist and forgetting the watch ain't there. It's Tuesday now and I still sometimes forget. I hate asking the question, "what time is it?"

Another thing. On tuesday I sent a post in the TP Skate Club Forum, asking for people who want to do Urban Skating around the East Region. No one frikin' replied. Not even an "I'm intersted, but not free" statement. Which means NO ONE IS INTERESTED. AT ALL. Screw it man, I put it alot of effort to type out the damn post. Okay I can't get actually get angry at anyone, but it just feels so... Unfun. Fastforward to Tuesday, and I'm sensing some rift forming between me and the skate club in general. Well not all of them, but a lot, and I don't know why. Am I paranoid?

Okay Sunday. There was a skate event on Sunday. At ECP. Where they were giving FREE T-SHIRTS!! Good right? Wrong. Leonard and I didn't get one. Background info: On Friday Toshi announced this event, and at that point, only Leonard and I put our hands up to show our interest. No one else did. Toshi said he'd register for us (I have a bone to pick here, but later) and I think it's fair to say that at that point, Leonard and I were the first to register. There were only 50 shirts to be given away, but we felt we'd get one. Back to Sunday. I arrived at Ray's shop at ECP at 3pm to grease my bearings. Then at 4.15pm I skated over to Hyper. AND THERE WERE NO MORE SHIRTS. On Saturday night, I found out there were more people going and that Clarence had had 10 shirts reserved for us. Leonard and I assumed that we were included. But dammit we weren't!

Now, about the rift I feel between me and the general skate club. I guess I'm only partially right. There are some people (no names here) I feel that somehow just don't like me. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I can't seem to shake the feeling. On a lighter note, there are some people like Leonard, Marcus, Tyler, and Shen Loong who do like me. I'm especially grateful that Shen Loong likes me because he's the best slalomer we have and like I said in earlier posts, I'm honoured to be taught by him. He's a good teacher because he gives a lot of praise and encouragement, and knows EXACTLY where we go wrong, so we know EXACTLY what to correct. What he said to me today was AWESOME! He said that my Ma Brouk (yes I found the right spelling) is better than his! Woo hoo! Lol.

I'm so glad I ended this Tuesday with a bang, if not it would render my statement about loving Tuesdays false.

I LOVE TUESDAYS!!!

22 June 10: I love Tuesdays.

I love Tuesdays.

PRSP first thing in the morning. I live Programming!! It's so straightforward, yet challenging, like a math or logic problem. I'm so in my element. I don't know why I didn't like prograing before. Hmm... Anyway, my primary goal is to be known as a whiz. My measure for that will be my reputation: how many people ask me for help. I'll know I've achieved this goal when I hear the words: "oh having trouble with PRSP? Ask Wesley." This is probably the closest thing I'll have to math (sob, no more math as a subject!). I feel good especially when I wear my skating gloves. It looks so Mission Impossible, like hacker's gloves. Lol.

After that we had BPM. I love BPM, because Ms Rita teaches us, and we can always expect something fun to happen. Like during the 3rd last week of school, we had to do a group presentation, then the following 2 weeks before the exam, we played a stock game. Today was just as fun. We discussed a lot of the trading/investing terminology, and not only did I get to revise what I knew, I also learnt new stuff, like I didn't know that short selling was also called contra, and that short selling is totally banned in Singapore. I was under the impression that one had to clear all short positions by the end of the trading day.  This is my second favourite subject after PRSP.

Then SKATING!!! OH YEAH!!! Lol, still so hyper. I love skating. I'm still maintaining my statement: "Every time I go for training I learn something new." Today I learned two new moves. Volt and Sun. Okay I learned Sun last Tuesday, but I couldn't do the J-Turn, so being able to do it now (albeit shakily) is an achievement for me. I also improved my Mega. I can go much faster and much more smoother now. Almost natural. After 4 days of not skating, I did have to regain my skating sense, but after one hour I was back in my skin. Skating felt natural again. So I felt good. :D The SHINE event is coming up soon, next Saturday. That means we only have 4 trainings left, including today. We need to be at our best, so only those who can do Crazy and One Foot can participate for Slalom. For slides, one must be able to do Acid and Power Slide. Thank goodness I'm slaloming and just finished learning Crazy. I already can do one foot. My Crazy is improving: I'm able to do toe after my back cross. I also have something to look forward to this Friday: Shen Loong is gonna personally train Marcus, Kienan, Leonard, Natasha and I some slaloming moves. Each of us will be learning a different move. For me, Shen Loong will teach me Malboro(?), which looks damn sexy. Very twisty and turny. I like. Shen Loong is probably the best slalomers I've seen in the TP Skate Club, and he's very good at picking moves best suited to us. Everytime he suggested a move to a person, that person's face will light up once they'd seen the move. I know I did. I also know Marcus and Leonard had the same reaction when Shen Loong showed them what he's be teaching them on Friday. I feel so honoured to be taught by him. :) Cant wait for Friday!!

I've also decided to organise something for the Skate Club. Urban skating!!! And I think my route is better, compared to the Orchard-Pasir Ris route, because 1) it's a circuit and 2) it's park connectors, meaning it's safer. I just posted the new topic on the TP Skate Forum. Maybe we can do it monthly, like the 4th Saturday of every month. I'm gonna pug hard for this, because it trains endurance, bonds people and would probably be a good "initiation" or "rite of passage" for future newbies. I really hope this idea takes off. This saturday will be the first one, and I'm gonna go even if no one else does. Let's see how many people reply.

Oh something good happened today. Phase Alpha has been set in motion. I feel happy.

I love Tuesdays.

16, 17 and 18 June 10: TP Skate Chalet

Man I'm getting lazy. I haven't written any posts for my blog yet even though so much happened in the last couple of days. Here's a basic summary though.

Wednesday.
CHALET!!! Pure awesomness. I played Magic with Daryl and totally owned his ass with W/U Defenders. He was very annoyed by my defense and control. When we played Tai Tee later, I used my control skills again to win 4 of the 5 games. I lost the first one cuz it was a warm up. Anyway, I won by my usual unconventional, come-from-behind win. When everyone had less than 5 cards in their hands, I had 7-8.  Usually the rest don't see me as. Threat because of my hand size, and because their usually distracted by each other. I win by combos. For example: put the 2 of spades, followed by a 5 card combo followed by a single or double. No one can counter it once I start it because I usually start it when each other player has less than 5 cards in hand. Again, Daryl was impressed by the way I controlled the game. When we played Mahjong, I wanted to control it too, but 1) there were other better and more experienced players than me and 2) it was only the 2 or 3 time i've played Mahjong with 4 players. It would be totally awesome if I could control that game too.
At night/morning we watched several horror shows like Saw, REC and REC2. I totally spooked myself out. XD

Thursday.
Got up late. Around 10am. Some of us had brunch at Subway. We went back to the chalet and played games until 5pm. Then we went for URBAN SKATING. oh yeah it's so damn fun.

We took MRT down to Orchard where we waited for Toshi. Shen Loong set up his cones and we started slaloming and attracting alot of stares. To make a long story short, when Toshi arrived, we skated all the way to Parkway Parade. We reached PP at around 10.30, 11pm and too a bus back. Then we had a whole night BBQ and mahjong. Super fun man!! I wa so thoroughly hyper during the skate trip but conked out on the bus. I hope we can do urban again.

Today!
Okay I slept at 5am this morning and woke up at 9. Then went to TP for project. During the chalet, Daryl showed me this girl, Tiffany Alvord, and she is amazing. She does her own renditions of popular songs and her voice is incredible. So when I went to TP, I watched her videos again on YouTube. And she is totally hot. One guy commented she looks like Daphne from Scooby Doo and I have to say I totally agree, especially when she has straight hair.

We finished out BBFin project (yay!) and almost finished the BPM project. We were way ahead of schedule. David and Jie Ni said whole day we do, but we finished by 4pm. Awesome.

Okay one last thing before I stop: phase Alpha is ready to go, and next Monday will see it implemented. Btw she smells really good... Lol

15 Jun 10

I got up late again today. Man I've really gotta stop doing that. I'm gonna start waking up early, if not when school reopens next week, I won't be able to get up. Lol.

Skating. Learnt new stuff today. I found out that what I had thought was Sun wa actually part one of Sun. Shen Loong taught us part two. Kinda difficult, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I realise I learn by observation and visualisation. I look, think and can do it after a few attempts. Okay it's still very shaky but at least I can do it. Marcus learnt it so fast and mastered it. So fluid. I'm so envious.

I finally changed my wheels today. And what a woderful feeling it was. My skates are now so smooth!! I can do Crazy quite smoothly now. That reminds me, I was taught Vault (Volt?) too. It's actually just 2 J-Turns in between each Crazy.

Well, gotta pack for Chalet tomorrow. TP Skate Chalet!! Whoo!! Wednesday afternoon til Friday morning. Awesomeness.

I've decided to add events to my titles. So from now on, each post will be [date]: [event/lesson]
This is so that my posts will be summarized and will have a point.

New post for planeswalkerz.blogspot.com

14 Jun 10

No post yesterday cuz it was mostly Magic. I went for tournament. More on that in planeswalkerz.blogspot.com.

I went skating at Pasir Ris park today. Was supposed to go with the TP skate team but no one showed up. Lucky I called Leonard to confirm that he was coming so at least it wasn't a total waste of time. I eventually skated all the way home from Pasir Ris via the park connector. It was damn fun. I think I'm ready to go for the 42km park connectors. Yeah.

12 Jun 10

I was super tired and lethargic today. Dunno why. Maybe yesterday skating to strenuous or maybe my body just wants me to sleep and heal. Kinda grouchy, too. I went skating with Brendan when I came back from Bishan (more on that on planeswalkerz.blogspot.com) and I helped him distribute flyers. He treated me to a drink too. That was fun.

11 Jun 10

I learned 2 things today. Skating is painful and skating is rewarding. I fell alot today. Finally more or less mastered crazy!!! Woohoo!! My mega is coming along nicely- I can go faster now. I learned how to do the hockey parallel slide and started learning acid and magic. That's when I fell and hurt my chin. I added another scrape to my right forearm while practicing crazy. Ah well. Man I love skating.

10 Jun 10

A nice boring day today. I did some trading. And made $28. More on that in planeswalkerz.blogspot.com.

I've initiated phase alpha with her: building rapport. I'm gonna hang out with her as much as possible. The main part of this will happen when school reopens, but I just laid a bit of the foundations already.

9 Jun 10

What a wonderful tiring day. I woke up to such a bright and sunny day and I was like, woohoo!!! Finally a sunny day among all the rainy ones. I went down to ECP with Brendan to do maintainence on my bearings. We got to the shop JUST in time. A few minutes later, it rained. Brendan taught me how to clean my bearings. I wad trapped there til 12.30pm. I was supposed to meet my primary school at 1pm at Downtown East for lunch, then go skating/cycling at Pasir Ris Park.

It was damn fun skating around Pasir Ris Park. Tiffany showed me the skate ring and I found markings so I could set up my cones. Tiffany can't do back cross and can barely do fish, yet she beat me in doing crazy. I was like, damn! And she did it the correct way, without lifting your foot off the ground. I watched carefully and eventually managed to follow too. Yay! I also managed to do all the variations of my powerslide, so that's good. It means I don't need the wet floor to slide.

We played pool at 5.30pm. Nick and I paired up in the first 3 games and won all 3. Then I sat out while he and Bryan thrashed Scot and Tiffany. Then I played with Tiffany on my team against Bryan and Scot. We almost won!! I screwed up the last bit. I had a free ball, but the black ball was in an awkward position. The only stright shot I could find was a corner, quite a distance away. I should have been able to hit a straight one, but I failed.

We all went home after that. We're doing another outing to Sentosa next Monday, and there will be more primary school friends there. Yay!

8 Jun 10

I love Tuesdays. I slept at 1.30am this morning and haven't rested yet. I'm going to sleep once I finish this entry. I was suppsed to go skating with Brendan today in the morning, but the weather consistently sucked. Kept drizzling, and when we thought it had stopped, it started again. Talk about unlucky. Then again, in a way it was good. We played MTG, bluff (Kenta was there), murderer and I got to practice DDR. I played on basic and this was only the second time I've ever dared to play. I got the hang of it and finally got my first double A!! On basic. Every holiday I learn a new skill, and I think this will be it for this hols. I nearly got a perfect combo, but I screwed up just before it ended. Damn. Ah well.

Okay skating!! Training today. Floor was soaked. We used the IT concourse first, but the floor was so impossible to skate on. It's so bumpy and rough. Urgh. We eventually managed to dry the street soccer court, but not totally, so sliding on the wet parts made us go really far. So fun!! Lol. I practiced my Mega today. Getting better at it . Faster and smoother transitions. Maintained my back cross and back snake, so no problems there. My crazy is improving as well. I'm slowly getting the feel of it. Kenta says you're not supposed to lift your feet off the groud except to heel-heel or toe-toe. I can understand why, but I can't seem to get it yet. I still have to lift up after back cross. Hmm. I have to master toe-toe. I gave up after a while cuz I just wasn't in the mood to slalom, despite my improvements. I went to practice my power slide. Now I know several variations of the power slide. Fakey power slide, double power slide and jump power slide. All thanks to the rain. My bearings started sqeaking because a bit of water got into them so tomorrow I'm going down to Hyper to buy the grease.

Man I'm tired. New post on Planeswalkerz.blogspot.com

7 Jun 10

What an interesting day. It's 1.15 am right now so I'm gonna keep it short.  My iPod hanged during startup but I didn't know what the problem was or how to reset it, so I took it down to the apple store at Parkway Parade, where I met up with Troy and we hung out. I learnt 2 things. If you hold either the Home button or the Sleep button, and push the other at the same time, it's a screen shot. If you hold both buttons down together for 8 seconds, you shut the whole device down.

Okay on the the rest of the day. Troy and I hung out, caught up and basically wasted time. But it was fun.

I came back home and started work on the survey for the JA company. Supposed to send it off by 11.59pm, ended up sending it at 1am. I was watching Whose Line videos on YouTube. Lol.

6 Jun 10

Finally! A break. The past few days have been stressful, with exams and so much logistics to do... Whoo.. I slept late for once, and when I got up, we (my family and I) had a prata brunch. I came home and promptly fell sick. Mostly a runny nose, so I took some panadol and chlomine and conked out on my beanbag til dinner.

I've decided I'm going after her. I'm putting together a battle plan and initiating phase alpha when school starts again. Failure is unacceptable.

Never give up! Never surrender! Lol.

5 Jun 10

5.21pm.
Supposed to have gone skating with Brendan today but weather we very bad. Thunder and drizzle at east coast. So we played Magic at Brendan's place.

In the end it didn't rain. Sigh... Ah well, at least I got to watch Ninja Assassin on DVD at his place. So much gore. But it was cool. Except or this one part where he had a flashback. There was this girl at the Ninja training place with the main character, Raizo, played by Rain. Her name was Kiroko. Kiroko showed Raizo how to have a heart an be compassionate. She eventually ran away because she couldn't take all the violence, but was caught and brought back. And she was executed as a traitor. Raizo had to watch her die. It was very sad, but very quick. Blade through the heart. Eventually, all the ninjas died. Except Raizo. Yay.

12.36am
Just came back from a successful class party which I organized. I'm so proud of myself. This is the first time I've organized such a big gathering. 14 people. Out of the 19 we have. So many things went my way today, and I feel so blessed. Lol. We watched Shrek ForeverAfter. A good movie, as are all the Shrek shows. The main takeaway from this is that you don't know what you have until it's gone. At least there was a happy ending, and no heart wrenching moments, unlike Ninja Assassin, when Kiroko was executed. I'm still not over that. It's in the same vein at Final Destination. I would only watch Final Destination if I'm depressed or want to be depressed. Lol. I'm weird. I'm exectionally happy today because of a certain someone... (contented sigh...)

4 Jun 10

Holy crap I forgot to update my blog yesterday. Oops. Ah well, here's a summary of the last two days. Nothing exciting really happened yesterday anyway.

Today was my last paper!!! Hooray!!! Lol. It was a very busy day, and I skated to school yesterday and today. Had lunch with David, then spent the next three hours in computer lab, playing facebook games and watching Whose Line Is It Anyway videos. Whoo! I think that's it for now. I'm quite sleepy. Goodnight!

2 June 10

I'm so pissed with myself today. Exam: Systems Analysis (SAS)

Okay here is the question word for word: "For any of the FIVE SDLC phases, list it's purpose and..."

From the way the English language is structured, I feel that the question requires me to pick ONE SDLC phase and explain it. It's telling me that there are FIVE SDLC phases, and I was sturggling to remember when we were taught FIVE. I remember we were only taught FOUR, which can be broken down further into 8phases. I was so distracted by the FIVE SDLC phases, the I didn't look at the marks awarded for this question alone: 10. Which means, 2 marks per SDLC phase. After talking to my friends after the paper, I found out that I wa supposed to pick any five of the eight SDLC phases. Damn!!! Lost 8 marks at least. Sigh. Both my parents agreed with me that the English structure is ambiguous, so I'm gonna find Ms Audra, my Communication Skills tutor, since she's the only person I know in TP who is closest to an English teacher that I can think of. Maybe she'll agree with me an I can talk my way out of this one. Otherwise, bye bye cGPA of 4.0...

I have a lot of activities coming up. And I'm involved with organising most of them. Partially, at least.

5th June: My class party. Dinner then movie(s).

9th June: Primary School Classmate gathering at Pasir Ris Park.

14th June: Primary School Classmate gathering at Sentosa.

16th to 18th: TP Skate club chalet and other activities such as beach party, paintball, movie marathon, urban skating.

I'm involved with planning the first 3, so I'm kinda stressed out. And tomorrow is my BPM paper. So many things to memorize.

1 Jun 10

Hmm. Had exam today. BBFin. I think I did okay. Took me a while to figure out Future Value Interest Factor Annuity via the long way, but I had time and I solved the question successfully. I used the FVIF/FVIFA ways, then checked using the PVIF/PVIFA ways. Since I achieved the same answer, I should get it correct or it means I made the same mistake both ways. Zzz. Ah well.

I watched WLIIA again. Scene to Rap and 40 clips of Scenes from a Hat. Tomorrow I gonna watch more. I saw there were up to 69 clips on YouTube at least.

Btw my Planeswalker Spark has reignited an the PLANESWALKERZ blog has been reactivited. www.planeswalkerz.blogspot.com

31 May 10

Ah... The end of May. And the start of my exam week for me. I had PRSP exam today and it was freaking easy, albeit a little tedious. I think confirm and A grade, but I dunno if I can get a Z cuz it's so easy, so I dunno how many people will do well. I skated to school, so it was a good day. Had a little discussion about class party this Saturday and we decide to have a dinner and movie instead of a BBQ. Yay! This make it much simpler and cheaper. Only problem: what to watch?Several people suggested Prince of Persia, but I wonder if the Chinese (meaning those from China in my class) will understand and/or appreciate it fully. The best option I have now is to find a good Chinese show with English subtitles, like IP Man 2, but some would have already seen it. Hmm... Decisions, decisions...

30 May 10

Finally! A nice normal boring day. Here's what I did:
Wake up
Eat
Study
Eat

Study

Bathe
Sleep

Yep. How exciting.

29 May 10

Went to Sentosa today. Dad managed to get a family bonding thing from NTU Alumni. 3 rides on the Luge, 3 rides on the skylift, lunch and admission fee all for just $10 per person. They subsidized alot of it. I really like the Luge and the Skylift. Although the Luge is a bit short. Or maybe I was going fast. Lol. Anyway, the skylift is so romantic. I kept imagining myself with (ahem) a certain girl on the skylift. (longing sigh...)

After that we went on the Segway. I don't know if it's pronunced seg-way or sedge-way. I hate inaccurate information. It was fun, but I really prefer skates.

Then we came home and I conked out. Pretty straightforward.

28 May 10

What a weird day. I did my mindmaps for PRSP and BBFin. I wanted to go skating after that at about 3pm but I heard thunder so I decided not to go. I felt really tired from yesterday's 4 sessions of skating and I conked out on my beanbag til dinner. The main thing I wanna talk about is a show called: The Island.

It's a story about a facility that makes clones. Human clones. It's set in the near future and it's only for rich people who want to live longer or need new organs or want a baby without going through childbirth. Whatever they need, they take from the clones. Each one costs about 5 million USD. Anyway, the clients are under the impression that the clones are kept in a vegetative state, never gaining consiousness. This is to show the clients that there is no ethical issue, as the clones are "not human". However, that is a lie. The clones are consious and are under the impression that a mass infection has hit the world, and they are the only survivors. They are also told that there is an Island, a pathogen free island for them to re-populate, and they only can go there if they win a lottery. The story follows Lincoln 6 Echo, a clone for Tom Lincoln, who has a terminal illness. Lincoln 6 Echo meets Jordan 2D in the facility. Both escape and find out the truth. Eventually, both clones go back and free the other clones.

My point is that, with cloning technology just round the corner, would we give up our humanity to save ourselves? Let me put it from this perspective: if the you clone yourself, the clone is you. Therefore, if you take organs from the clone, you kill the clone and you survive. Isn't that the same as killing yourself? Isn't that suicide, in a very real sense? What would you say if you met yourself, and you know he/she would die to save you?

I, personally, will not give up my humanity just like that. If I should die, so be it. I'm now against cloning humans, even if they ARE kept in a vegetative state. Organ growing, sure, but cloning, making a whole new human, no.

27 May 10

Another weird day today. I can't decide if it's good or bad...

So ticked off today with Basic Business Finance (BBFin). I hate it when there are 2 answers. I'm talking about Future Value and Preset Value calculations. We have 2 options: use manual calculations or use the tables provided. The problem I have is that the tables round off the figures to 3dps. I like my figures to be accurate. Grr.

I went skating alone after that. I had to remove that discomfort that came with the inaccurate figures. It's a small difference, but it's different. Maybe I have a bit of OCD.

I went to BBFin lecture and nearly fell asleep. Sigh... After lecture finished I immediately left for the street soccer court to practice slalom some more. My Sun and Mega are both improving. Sun has proved dizzying. But I'm getting the hang of it, getting the feel of how the momentum is transferred.

I had a total of 4 skating sessions today. Skate to school, 2 sessions of practice, and skating with Brendan and Kenta. Man I'm tired. But I'm getting better at Sun and Mega, so I'm happy.

26 May 10

Hmm I can't decide if it's a normal day or a fun day.

In ISOFun lesson we each had to do a powerpoint presentation, which we each had prepare 2 weeks earlier on any topic that interests us. I did skating. I was second to present, after Zi Xuan. I think I did well, although I exceeded the time limit. Our class started at 10am and was supposed to end at 12pm but we overran til 12.45pm. Which means we more or less missed lunch. We were also suppose to vote best presenter but there wasn't time. Ah well.

The guys ran down to get sanwiches and bao and chicken-on-a-stick. But most of the girls didn't. And we were all still so hungry during lecture. Zzz.

At 8.30 Llyod called me and asked me to return his Abyssal Persecutor this night. So I was like okay fine. I went down to bedok central and since JY was there, we started making fun of Lloyd and his size. Lol. I managed to sell some cards and made a nice haul of $6. Not bad.

I love Tuesdays. It has all the fun lessons!!! PRSP, BPM and then SKATING!!! Über fun.

PRSP: I really like programming. It's so fixed, so easy, so smooth! But I felt like a fool today. The last piece of classwork we wer supposed to do was to create a PHP program to calculate the discount at a shop, then calculate GST. Ms Nami (my teacher) had just uploaded the HTML file onto OLIVE, our student portal. I didn't realise she had done so at that point, and assumed we were supposed to create the HTML file ourselves. So I was like, okay, no problem. Right click, select "New HTML file". Then I opened up the HTML file of a previous assignment, and began copying the format, editing it to my needs. Then I created a PHP file to link to the HTML file and the program ran smoothly, except for one minor glitch. I usually enter the address as ".htm", but since I created this file, I had to type '.html' instead. I didn't know until I asked her for help. After that it ran smoothly. I felt proud of myself, until I asked Hui Min if she managed to create the HTML file. That's when I found out I could have just downloaded it off the Internet, and I felt like such a fool. No wonder everyone else finished faster than me. Zzz.

BPM: We played stock rush again. Da Wei made a profit of around $900,000 including assets. That was amazing cuz we each started with 20 Grand. It was also not fair cuz he bought a lot of stocks for just $1 per stock, then the stock price increased and so did his wealth. Grr. Stroke of luck.

Now on the the most exciting part: SKATING!!!

Omg I'm so happy. I almost mastered Back Cross and Back Snake. I was taught Sun and Mega too. Very difficult. I also started work on Crazy.

Here's a list of what I've mastered or almost mastered so far. I like to keep making this list to watch my progress.

Fish
Snake
Front Cross
One Foot
Nelson Cross
Nelson Eagle
Back Snake
Back Cross

Learning:
Sun
Mega
Crazy

Yeah! Woohoo! Lol.

24 May 10

Boring day. School as usual. Nothing much to say.

Elliott is okay, Uncle Van said so far so good. I'll check again tomorrow.

Had a chat with mummy. Very productive. We talked about the JA competition, and my role as VP Marketing. And some ideas too. I'm gonna propose event and party planning. It will be targeted at youths, and my main selling points will be that we can save them the hassle, find the best deals and are very efficient.

23 May 10

Urgh. Today was a extremely discomforting day, to say the very least.

I managed to extract all the important points from PRSP, BBFin and BPM. Gonna convert them to Mindmap or Cluster Maps tomorrow. I'm trading notes with David, who did SAS and ISOFun.

I skated over to Grandma's house today. And got into trouble. After showing off to grandma, I followed my toddler cousin, Elliott, on my skates. I was going slow and I thought I could stop in time. But he stopped suddenly and I didn't react fast enough, so I knocked him down. As if that wasn't bad enough, he lifted his head just as my knee went over him, and I knocked him again. He banged his head on the floor and now there's a cut above his left eye. It's very swollen as well.

What's wrong with me? This is the second time I've hurt him. The first time was at a restaurant, and Uncle Van sat Elliot on a waist high ledge, then told me to watch him. No sooner had I said okay and turned to Elliott, he (Elliott) lurched forward and nearly fell off the ledge. Lucky Uncle Van reacted faster than I and caught him.

Me + Kids below 10 years old
= TROUBLE.

I can't be near Elliot anymore. After he stopped crying, he kept staring at me so accusingly.

I'm not gonna go within 2 meters of any small child from now on, especially with my skates. It's better and safer. For the child and for me.

I dunno what's gonna happen to Elliott now. Uncle Van said he'd monitor Elliott for the next 48 hours.

Maybe I'm not destined to be with any small child. You know what that means.

Why do I keep doing these things??

Why do I have this curse upon me?

22 May 10

Woah. Long day today. I went for a seminar (?) from 9am til 7pm. It was a series of speakers. This event was organized by Adam Khoo, and it was designed for the speakers to share their experience and opinions on the economy in the near future. Well, not just the ecomony, but other wealth making opportunities too. I found some of the l speakers like Adam, Conrad, Joey Yap and Patrick Liew very humorous and informative, but some of the speakers were kinda boring.

I think the highlight today (in my opinion) was Joey Yap's presentation. I found it the most interesting. He did a talk on Bazi, Chinese astrology and stuff. I learnt a few things from him. I'm quite balanced, 4 Yin characters and 4 Yang characters. My main element is water, specifically the Yang Water, although I do have the Yin Water on the Bazi chart. This was all done in relation to wealth. So apparently, Yang Water people are good at obtaining capital. Warren Buffet and Bill gates are both Yang Water too!! Whoo!!! Lol. Joey Yap said that most of the richest people in the world are Yang Water people. I'm definitely be among those. Hopefully I'll be featured on the front page of Forbes Magazine...

Ahh enough dreaming, time to REALLY dream. Imma sleep now. 'Nights.

21 May 10

Yeah today was an awesome day!!! Two main points: skating and JA company. Let's start with JA Company.

I was voted VP Marketing!!! Yay!!! I'm so honored. I'm the only year one among the VPs. So happy!!! Definitely gonna put in my 100% for this competition. We. Will. WIN!!!

Skating. Wow every time I go for training, I learn something new. That's just awesome. Marcus taught me how to do back cross, but I haven't got the feel for it yet. I taught myself back snake. Not mastered, but it's better than my back cross. So here is what I can do now.

Fish
Snake
Front Cross
One Foot
Back Snake
Nelson Cross

I tell you, eagle Nelson is frigging difficult. My weight is totally off balance. At least, by learning the back snake, I can start to feel the back cross.

Oh I got my wheels rockered today!!! It was $8 a wheel, but because Marcus and I bought 4 each, they gave us a discount. So I spent $28.50, which works out to be $7.125 per wheel. I also got a pair of wrist guards. They were $19.90 but Hyper sold it to me at $19. And they look damn sexy. Lol.

20 May 10

Another relatively boring day. I'm beginning to regard non-skating days as boring days. Lol. I'm mainly prepareing for my speech tomorrow. Reading Zig Ziglar's Secrets of Closing The Sale. Yeah. I'm learning too. I just learnt the difference between price and cost. Price is a one time deal. Cost could go on forever. Let me explain using the example in the book. Okay I'm gonna modify that a bit, because I wanna do this from memory. I'm confident that the basic principle is still there. Say you wanted to buy a bicycle. The bicycle costs $300, but it's a good bicycle, and you really want it. Then you find out that there's a bicycle selling at $100, which looks like the same bicycle. You're overjoyed at this bargain, and buy the $100 bicycle. Now, this is a difference of PRICE. So you proudly go home with your new bicycle. After 2 weeks, you replace the handlebars because they came loose. Another 2 weeks and the pedals fall off. Soon, you're repairing or replacing the brake system, the tires, the seat etc etc. And each time, the new component costs you money. Over time, that amount accumulates, and the total cost of that, plus the original $100 for the bicycle, grows to more than $300. If you had taken the $300 bicycle, you'd only need to service it once every year. So you see, the COST of the $100 bicycle was really $100 plus the cost of replacing and/or repairing each piece. This, is the difference between PRICE and COST.

19 May 10

Today was quite boring. Yeah.

Still thinking about that girl with the flower in her hair. Hopefully she'll come on Friday.

I did my 200 skips today. Note: wear shoes to skip. I burned the big toe on my right foot. I didn't do my lunges though. I fell on the couch and slept. Couldn't wake up till dinner.

18 May 10

Wow today was super fun. We played a game in BPM lesson, had a half an hour lecture and I wore my skates from 4.30pm to 9.30pm.

Oky let's start with BPM and the lecture. We played a board game called Stock Rush. It's a trading game where one can buy and sell stocks, franchises and gold. It was damn fun. I found the equivalant of 13 gold nuggets, which I could sell for 100 times the amount I rolled. Each. We had a 12-sided die and I rolled a 12!!! OMG instant $13300!!! Woohoo!! Lol. I was sad we had to leave for lecture, but we'll play again next week. Ms Rita said this was just a warm up. Anyway. Short lecture. Yeah. That's about all I can say about it.

Nevermind, on to skating! I intended to go down to the street soccer court to read, if nobody was there, but Leonard was there practicing slaloming, so I joined him. This was at 4.30pm. I practiced my front cross. Getting better. During training, I was taught how to generate speed for one foot, because after a while I lose momentum an can't clear the 20cones. Grr. Anyway, I found the trick: bend your knee when you go in, an straighten when you exit the cones. It works!!! I was so happy. Then after that they taught us Nelson Cross. I picked it up quite easily. I felt it was quite easy. I took a water break, and saw some beginners learning T-brake and back skating. So I helped them and eventually ended up teaching them instead of practice slaloming. Ah well. They asked me to show them power slide and a pulled it off!!! Yay. I feel good.. Lol.

Oh one more thing. I saw this girl who was doing back skating. She had a white flower in her hair and was quite cute. I kicked myself cuz I didn't find out her name, and when I wanted to, she'd left. Well, she has her own skates (Seba FRX, just like mine, except she has green laces I think) so she may come back on Friday. I hope she does.

17 May 10

Back to school. My sunburn hurts. Over my shoulders, back and back of my neck. Oww.... I could barely wear my bag. Ah well. I hope it heals fast. Anyway. Today: we learnt more advance programming today. Not playing around with Alice anymore. Alice is a program, not a person. Don't think sick. Tomorrow morning we'll be doing more programming. I've already done a bit of tomorrow's class work. Quite simple, actually.

I did my problem matrix for SAS today.  Came up with only 4 problems. My dad helped me with the last 2. I figured, hey, if everyone came up with 4 problems, we'd have 20 problems. Lol. After that I started work on my speech. After I write it out and present it this Friday, I'll put it up on this blog. ("I have a dream!") Lol. I'll get someone to video me too. I have 3 main points: personal experience, reading books, and that sales and marketing are the 2 pillars of a company.

I started my personal physical training today. It's not much, but at least I started. I did 200 skips and 50 lunges. I was supposed to do 100, but my thighs were just too weak. I will slowly increase 10 lunges every week. I think I'll increase 50 skips every week too. Also, I will wear the sandbag weights around my ankles to imitate the weight of the skates, whenever I'm outside and not skating. Soon I'll be used to the weight and the skates will be just an extension of my feet.

16 May 10

Sunday. Yeah. Had a great frikin day today!!! Party at sentosa!!! Lol. Outing with (part of) the TP Skate Club. Yuan Yuan, Amanda, Gordon, Vance, Yu Heng, Shen Long, Leonard, Esther, Randall and me! Lol. Got sunburnt. Back and shoulders burning. Played a bit of volleyball and soccer. Then had dinner at Carl's Jr, Vivocity. Free flow of 100+!! Yummy. Then went to Kovan for bowling session. I didn't strike at all, but I did hit a few spares. Lol. Yup that's it.

15 May 10

Wow. Long day today. I got up at 7am.  And got my stuff ready for the day ahead. My parents sent me to ECP. And then I met Zhi Hong on the way. Lol what a coincidence. I had a whole day of mostly skating. From 8.30am to 12.50pm (4 and a half hours) I didn't take off my skates at all. That's so awesome. I can last in my skates for longer and longer hours. Anyway, I was supposed to go for the couple relay, but they replaced all the guys at the last minute. I got kinda pissed cuz the team kept changing and also because I really wanted to skate. They did let me go as a photographer, so I felt better after that. I was feeling kinda dissatisfied with the whole thing, but after I started skating, that feeling left me. Hmm. Anyway after that we Had lunch. That's when I took off my skates. Not because they were painful, but because I didn't wanna carry food on skates. After lunch we played ultimate frisbee. I played barefoot in the second match (which we won). Lol this was funny. Before the first match, Daryl put me in cuz of my body build. Second match someone wanted to sub me out but someone (I can't remember if it was Daryl, Toshi, Andrew or Yu Heng) forcfully said: "No. Wesley's good." Wow when I heard that I was thrilled!!! In the second match I played better, faster, utilizing all the footwork I learned in tennis. Next game: photo hunt. We were in a team of 6. Marcus, Yuan Yuan, Natasha and 2 other girls (I dunno their names pai se) and me. We skated very far. The clues were tough and I just didint feel good about the whole thing. I kept making mistakes and was angry at myself for it. At least it looked damn good: 2 guys and 4 girls. Woohoo.

Some things I forgot to add yesterday: I'm running primarily for VP Marketing and for VP Finanance. This is for the JA company. I have to prepare a one minute speech on why I should be hired for the position.

14 May 10

Wow a good busy day today. Let's go by two main topics: skates and JA competition.

Okay skates. I feel wonderful!!! I think I've brokne into my skates already! 2 straight hours of slaloming and no pain. Well, not much anyway. I feel great! I finally mastered the fish and viper. I found that the trick to do viper is to swing your front leg first before your back leg, not swing them together. Yuan Yuan says it looks as if I'm doing front cross when I go fast. That's awesome. I can also do one leg. But after a while I lose momentum which means I lose balance which means I swing away from the cones. I can't do a full 20 cones on one leg, but I can do about 7 cones. That's good enough for me now! I also started learning front cross, which was not as hard as I expected. I haven't mastered it yet, but I can do about 10 cones without knocking any over. I left at 8 for dinner with my family, so I missed abit. Marcus was lucky enough to start learning Crazy. I'm gonna force him to teach me the technique today. Then I'm gonna practice and be able to do it better than him. Mwahahaha.

Ok JA Competition. I'm so embarressed. JA stands for Junior Achievers, not Junior Associates. Pai se pai se. We had our first meeting today. 24 of us. 4 people came to train us. An Australian, an Indian, a Scotsman and an Ang mor. I dunno where she is from. Quite diverse. Anyhow. We played a game about leaders. Everyone had a post-it stuck to his or her back, and everyone could see it except them. What we had to do was play 20 questions. And you have to ask yes/no questions. To find out who you are. So I asked smart questions. Here is the list.

Am I a politician? No
Am I a sportsperson? Yes
Do I live in America? No
Do I live in Asia? No
Do I live in Europe? Yes
Do I play soccer? Yes

Basically that was just my list of questions I asked. After the last question I groaned because I wasn't a soccer fan and I only had the name Rolnaldo (is that how you spell it?) running through my head. Then Da Wei said, very easy one. And something clicked: I'm David Beckham!

I was the first one to solve it and I proudly pasted my post-it on the board. Lol. Da Wei was Bruce Lee, but he couldn't guess it within the time given.

We came up with our company's name and core values too. We came up with some funny names:
Likit: it's actually Like It combined, but it looks like Lick It. Which just sounded wrong. So we scratched that.
Another group came up with MicroHard. Which also sounded REALLY wrong. Think about it.

Anyway, that's all for now. I'm gonna have a full day of skating tomorrow! Woohoo!!!

13 May 10

Ah okay I practiced skating abit today. Class ended early like at 10.30am, so we went to print our notes and have lunch. At 12 Da Wei and I went to the basketball court. I practiced my slaloming and he practiced his basketball shots. I made a bit of progress: able to do fish now. Viper is still a challenge for me cuz I keep falling into front crossover. Ah well I'm gonna establish a training routine for myself tomorrow.

12 May 10

OMG. This is HUGE. During ISOFun today, Miss Chen held 4 of us back to talk to us. Us being Da Wei, Jie Ni, Johnathan. And me. Why? There's this competition coming up, by Junoir Associates. It's an entreprenarial competition, more on that later. Credit Suisse offered to train one class of 24 people from TP. Now, usually this is offered only to year 2s and 3s, but this time the teachers wanted to see if year ones could do it. We are sort of the guinea pigs. Anyway, only 7 year ones were selected. HAND PICKED. And of the 3 from the other class selected, I know at least 2 of them. I'm so honored. So, on to what this competition is about:

We are a team of 24 year ones and twos. This is an inter-school tournament and what we're supposed to do is this: create a company and sell a product or service. We will be judged on the amount of money made, human impact and some other stuff I forgot. Credit Suisse is training us 24 over 12 Fridays, teaching us how to make and maintain a company. Oh did I mention that we have to make a REAL product or a REAL service? And that we will ACTUALLY be selling it? And that we'll get REAL MONEY? At the end of the competition, which is near the end of this year, the company will be liquidated. I'm going into Accounts Department, Marketing and Sales Department or R&D Department. The experience I will gain from this will be INVALUABLE.

This. Is. AWESOME!!!

11 May 10

I GOT MY SKATES!!! Seba FRX!!! It cost $186, is black and is totally sexy!!! I also got cones. Yay yay yay yay yay!!!! I'm so happy!!!

My skates came late, around 9ish, so the people were nice enough to let me rent skates from them free of charge!!! That's so awesome of them. Anyway, not that I'm ungrateful, but I didn't like the rental skates cuz I couldn't slalom in them. We finally started learning basics. I picked up the fish very fast, but had problems with the snake cuz I'm right dominant and my brake was a hindrance. My left foot kept knocking into it and I kept tripping. Tsk. Ah well. I got my new skates so I can practice now. Yay!!! Lol I'm just so excited!!! Next thing to get: gloves. Oh I'm also very sad. I made a hole in my favourite pants... I fell and slid. I wa also wearing a knee brace underneath my pants leg. So I slid, tore the pants, tore the knee brace and tore my skin. Now I've got a battlescar. Damn.

Next morning update: my knee hurts. Not the skin, the bone. I think I may have awakened my old injury abit. I can walk normally, but bending my knee is a problem. I'm gonna wear shorts today and be extremely careful with it.

10 May 10

Okay I didn't put up a post yesterday cuz I was super busy. Well I was busy at night, talking to my dad about Systems Analysis. He's studied it before so he can help me. He was helping me prepare to conduct an interview today, which turned out to be much better than last week's failure. Lol. During the day I was still really lethargic and sluggish. I couldn't and wouldn't do work. Ah well, my loss. Anyway, onwards to today!

I made a decision to speak in proper sentences and use uncommon synonyms wherever possible. Yesterday, my family and I watched Race to Witch Mountain, so I decided to speak like the aliens Seth and Sarah. I managed to maintain this style of speech, until Da Wei arrived at our pre-determined destination. Only then did I realise I would only be able to speak like this through a non-verbal medium, not face to face with a person.

Ah well, so much for that. In any case,  today was a good day. I felt much better. Maybe because I woke up early, or maybe because I had a walk to school. Maybe I need to exercise before I work. Hmm.

There will be skates rental tomorrow, so I'm happy. I hope we can get our skates tomorrow. I doubt it though, because the seller said he's call to confirm our order, and he has yet to do so. Aww... I'm getting cones too. I'm gonna ask for a discount, then split the discounted cost with my friend Zhi Hong. We're gonna take 10 cones each. It comes in a set of 20, but as we are beginners, I doubt we can fully utilize all 20 cones. Now I'm beginning to have some doubts about this. I may want to keep the 20 cones. I'll talk to Zhi Hong tomorrow and make a decision.

I just felt really awesome!!! I went to my facebook friends and one by one, I said: "You're awesome!" Then when they reply, I say:
"I'm awesomely vandalizing the awesome walls of all the awesomely awesome people in my awesome life.

Translation: I'm awesome."

I only made it up to M though. My dad said to go and bathe so I did, and when I came out, he'd switched off the Internet. Ah well. Tomorrow!! Spread the awesomeness!!!

Saturday, May 8, 2010

8 May 10

I feel so disconnected. From everything. So lethargic, sluggish. I wanted to do work today, but I just couldn't get the drive to do so. I've decided to give up reading storybooks, and going for Coach Training. At least for now. Maybe I'll coach in December. There's just too many projects to do. Tomorrow is my last day to sort my work out. I have to do it. I just feel so empty inside. Like I don't have a purpose. Argh...

7 May 10

Sorry I couldn't put up a post yesterday. I slept at 9+pm cuz I had a really bad headache. Took 2 panadol and slept. Wah damn shiok sia. This morning I totally didn't feel like waking up. The blankets felt SO GOOD. Ah well what happened today:

Woke up at 7am to have breakfast with daddy. The bought ice an went to TP. Today was Campus Care Network (CCN) day, where each class is supposed to set up a stall and sell products or services to raise money for the needy students in TP. My class sold drinks, the idea curtesy of Jie Ni. She suggested selling mixed drinks, i.e. Sprite + Ribena, Pink Guava + 7-Up and Coke + Lime Cordial. The first 2 were successful, but the lime coke just did not taste good. Before I go on, lemme tell you our unofficial roles.

Jie Ni: Mix Master (drinks)
Johnathan: Marketing and Logistics
Kai Yiu: Financial Manager
Me: Unofficial Consultant and anything-I-can-help-with guy

The rest were in teams to walk around and sell drinks, or just be extra labour if needed.

It was quite fun. We eventually managed to get an ROI of about 65%, all the profit going to charity, of course. We had revenue of $167, so minus the $101 we started off with, we have $66 profit. Not for our first time. John was oozing awesomeness today. First, when he and Zhan Hui went up to get the drinks, he took 2 bags. In each hand. Wow. Then during the day, he paid for drinks and gave them to us. We also actually only had $65.50 profit, so he threw in 50 cents to make it even. And he was the one who brought in the most orders. This isn't to say that the rest wern't awesome as well, it's just that today he was the most awesome. Even more than me. Lol. Oh when we got an order for 12 cups, he made enough to fill 9 and a bit. Then when he made a bit more, his estimation was excellent, and the amour he made was EXACTLY enough to fill the last 2 and a half cups. Woah.

Jie Ni wasn't too far behind John herself (in terms of awesomeness). She mixed the drinks and then stepped in front of the tables to sell to passers-by. And brought in a tidy sum of money. I think John and Jie Ni both win employee-of-the-day awards. If we had any.

Today was also TP's 20th aniversary. So they gave all of us a free buffet dinner at 4.30. We (half my class) decided to stay a bit til 5pm so that the ques wouldn't be so long. At 5pm I went to check the trays and they were ALL EMPTY. WTF??? I'm so sad we didn't get any food. My class didn't even have a single bite.

Oh well.

Anyway, I know who I'm gonna target. I see abit of me in her: enthusiastic, learns fast, and is natural leader. She's cute too. I only hope I'm fast enough.

5 May 10

Today was Epic. I'm in my jokester mode again. Okay I'm usually joking around alot anyway, but what I mean is that, I was telling my so-called lame jokes today, and to my surprise, most were well appreciated. See, what I did wa just type them out in big font on a word document, then turned the laptop towards my groupmates to let them read. All 3 of them (Zhan Hui, Ying Wei and David) automatically leaned forward to look, and when they finished they started sniggering. It was fun and it felt good to recieve these hard-to-come-by-when-I-was-in-secondary-school laughs. The most epic funny thing that happened today was at ISOFun class, when we discussed the tutorial questions in a group. Ying Wei pulled out her Word Document and we had a look. There was a picture of Robert Pattison on the second page, and we were all like, WTF??? Then I said, at least she didn't choose Zac Effron. She was confused as she didn't know who Zac Effron was. David said to show her and I immediately Googled him in the pictures mode. The page that came out showed a series of pictures of him, some bare chested and some with him in the process of taking off his shirt. I then turned the laptop to face Ying Wei. Now here is the most epic part: She leaned forward and after 2 seconds, smiled and said "heh heh". Can you imagine what that looke like from my point of view???? It look and sounded like she was so turned on and I could almost see her beginning to drool. Oh my GOD!!!! I quickly turned the lappie back to face me and closed the window before nearly falling off my chair with laughter. That would really have been a ROFLMAO. That girl is scary. It's as if she'd been deprived. And I think I should end my blog here.

4 May 10

Wah SHIOK AH!!!! Skating again today. Super awesome. We were taught slides. The reverse power slide, actually. You begin by moving backward, then just pushing your right leg behind while tilting your body weight in front. Damn sweet. I also ordered my skates today. I'm gonna get the Sebas FRX, cuz it's the cheapest of all the Sebas skates. Discounted price = $199. I'm also gonna get the set of 20 cones. UP is $30 but their selling it at $26. Let's see if I can bargain the price down a bit more if I get both the skates and one set of cones.

Okay school stuff. We have to do a mini project for BPM: make a 3D model of a biz process. We decided to show how a blogshop works. The processes of buying, negotion of price, delivering the product and advertisments. I'm in charge of getting styrofoam. Lol.

3 May 10

Week 3 day 1. Still surviving. Had our first BPM and BBFin meeting today. Group consists of David, Johnathan, Jie Ni and Lisa. And me. And I'm the leader. Yay! I'm gonna put in my 100% for this group cuz it has the best potential to be the best. Look at the statistics:
David: 8pts for R4
Lisa: 9pts
John and Jie Ni: 10 pts each
And me: 12pts.
Okay okay so I'm the dumbest. But hey I'm leading a group of smart people. The other classes have kids getting 13, 14, 15 points. Our class has no one getting more than 12. And we 5 are the most outspoken, enthusiastic and adaptable people in the class. So yeah, we are gonna top the class. That's our goal, anyway. I'm gonna impart the things I've learned in IAG. Jie Ni and Lisa both have heard of Adam Khoo but haven't attended any of his courses. David has totally no clue. Johnathan and I both have gone through at least once each, so I'm gonna tap on him to back me up. I already started with banning the T word. Tomorrow I will show them the power of the T word. Then maybe I'll show the class. I have great plans for this team.

Oh small update on my love life. Or rather, lack of it. It's week 3 and although I don't have a girlfriend yet, I at least know who to target. I've got 2 possible girls, each having their own merits. Now the problem is deciding who to focus on... Their traits are incomparable, as they measure up on different scales, to put it crudely. Ah well. I'll cultivate both friendships first before deciding.

2 May 10

I got my pants!!! Finally. I have only 2 long pants that I like, and one is made for a bigger man than I, so I've to use a belt. The other one is my favourite one cuz it had 8 pockets, reaches my ankles and is made of thick material. Therefore, when I fall, especially when I'm on skates, I don't get scratches on my legs. I know chicks dig scars, but I don't. However, it's a problem too, as my mum bought it in Hong Kong, which means I'm unable to find a similar pair here in Singapore. Well, I'm sure there are, but I've gotta look hard. Anyway, mummy and I went to Bedok Central to find pants and we were partially successful. I got 2 pairs of pants (same design, diff colours) with many pockets, but they weren't as thick as I liked. They were the thickest I could find though, so I made do. I will be using them for skating.

New topic: Collegehumour. Damn funny sia!!! Minesweeper, The Movie. PAC Man. Tetris. RPG guys are Jerks. Slumdog Price Is Right. These are awesome! I had a good laugh over them. Go check them out on YouTube. The Tetris and Pac Man weren't so funny though.

1 May 10

Ah slack. So slack. For the morning. I went skating with Johnathan an Brendan today. In the afternoon. My butt and my thighs and my feet ache now. It was a good workout. It was supposed to be Brendan, Johnathan, Zhan Hui, Han Lin, David, Kai Yiu and David's 2 friends. I think Kai Yiu forgot about today cuz he didn't call and he didn't answer my 2 calls. David and his friends came at 3.30pm and by that time I had to leave so we missed each other. Zhan Hui and Han Lin came on time but both rented bikes. John came abit later and rented skates so he, Brendan and I skated together while Zhan Hui and Han lin cycled ahead. It was fun, we skated to the jetty, then I showed off my skill in skating backwards in a circle. Brendan was not impressed, and he started crabwalking in a circle too. Lol.

After I came home we, that is, my family and I, went to Downtown East Coasta Sands to celebrate Faith's birthday. I don't know Faith personally. She's the daughter of my parent's friend. I was so out of my element there. From now on, I'm not going to any party where I don't personally know the main person. I did abuse the food though. 12 chicken wings, 3 sausages, a piece of garlic bread and 2 cups of gassy grape cider. Lol.

30 Apr 10

Today was a very eventful day. I started by going back to St Patrick's to pass Andrew his money owed to him by Ernst. We chatted for a while about Magic, then I went home. I was feeling very irritable, maybe because of the heat, but I doubt it. I'm not known to react to heat. Lol I make myself sound like an involatile chemical. Like I said, I felt easily irritated and got annoyed whenever someone talked to me. I eventually decided to take a nap and I was well rewarded: I felt more energetic. Maybe it has something to do with my sleep cycle. Ah well. I had lunch with my parents, and I discovered a stall which has amazing roasted pork rice. The roasted pork is crispy! And it's within walking distance of TP. So convienient. I went to TP at 1pm to do my ISOFun homework. ISOFun stands for Information Systems and Office Fundamentals. I had to do a Word Document about myself. I managed to finish most of it. After that I went for Ultimate Frisbee. I hve decided to quit it and focus my efforts on roller blading an learning slalom. I find the grass too itchy and I prefer to wear long pants than shorts. I can't wait to get my own skates. I learned how to skate backwards and then skate backwards in a circle. The backward crossover. I mastered the left side before the right. And I did it before Yuan Yuan could!!! Yay!!! Lol. I also taught myself how to move, spin and continue on backwards. Awesomeness. Oh, and also how to balance on the back wheel of my left skate and the front wheel of my right simultaneously. I can't wait for tomorrow.

28 Apr 10

Lol busy busy busy. Kay a few updates. A certain pair of friends of mine are finally together! To quote him they "just try out only." Lol best wishes to them! He's been chasing her for several weeks already, so congrats bro! Lol.

Okay I'm thinking very hard about getting myself a pair of skates. Their really expensive, the cheapest being around $200. But I'm planning to buy with the rest of the freshies in the skate team to lower the price. I'm gonna sit on this til next Tuesday before I make my final descision.

I'm gonna ask my class to go skating this sat for class bonding. I've asked Diana and Brenda too, since their both in the same diploma but in different classes (C265 and C263 respectively). I hope they can get most of their class to go. That would be fun. And those who can't skate can cycle.

27 Apr 10: Book Review

I am so sad. I've been reading these 2 books, Nobody's Princess and it's sequel, Nobody's Prize. I just finished the second book. It's about this princess, Helen, from Sparta who doesn't want to do so-called lady-like things like sewing. She disguises herself as a boy and learns swordsmanship with her 2 brothers, along with archery lessons from her mother. It's a very nice story about a woman fighting for her rights. During the story, she frees a slave boy, Milo, and both become very good friends. He becomes more or less the co-main character in this story, sharing her travels and secrets. The thing that made me sad was that, near the end ofthe story, he left as an apprentice to a merchant without saying goodbye to Helen. I was so heartbroken cuz I thought they'd marry each other. One year later he comes back as a merchant himself. I thought she was gonna slap him or something because he left her so abruptly. Now Milo is gonna marry Alkyone, a girl who pretended to be Helen while Helen went off to have her adventures. And Helen's left to rule Sparta by herself. Sobs.

These books I highly reccomend because it's about fighting for one's rights, standing up for what you believe in an chasing after your dreams, no matter what might get in the way. Helen is resourceful, cunning, and according to the story, has such beauty that she rivals Aphrodite herself.

27 Apr 10

My ass hurts. I fell on my right butt cheek. Lol. Roller Blading today. I put myself in the Advanced group because i could do the T stop. We were taught hoe to skate backwards. Then we played virus on skates. It involved everyone who came. That's how I got my sore butt. I was going too fast, then I went onto the grass and when I attemted to jump back on the pavement, my feet flew from under me and I landed on my right butt. Lol. But it was damn fun overall. I think I should get myself a pair of skates and gloves or wrist guards. Gloves look cooler though. Lol.

26 Apr 10

Yay 2nd week of school has started. I'm happy. The only homework I have is to think of questions for an interview. Lol. Tomorrow evening I'm going to roller blade CCA with my friends Johnathan, Yuan Yuan and Zhan Hui. Yayness. Not much updates today. Tomorrow will probably have more after roller blading.

25 Apr 10

Okay. I went to Chinatown for breakfast today with my family. Fried pig intestine and chee chiong fan. Yummy. After that we went to the buddhist temple. It's quite new, but then again I haven't been there in years. I respect the religion, yet I didn't appreciate the visit. I'm not gonna complain here- that is not the purpose of this blog. I'm just gonna say: it was a good experience, thank you I don't wanna go there again.

I finished cutting the fake money for our biz game this Tuesday. We (my team of 3) are distributors of watches and I "copyrighted" and "trademarked" the name "Watches R Us". Extremely original, it had to be protected for our use only. Lol.

I'm very happy today cuz I'm free. Only Lloyd would understand this. But ah well, I'm happy!!! Time to persue other targets... Lol.

24 Apr 10

This is bad. This is bad. This is very very bad. I'm slipping. I haven't put up a post for the last 2 days. Grr. I've been really lazy. I need to get back on track again. Ah well, yesterday I spent most of the day at Brendan's house playing Magic, same as today. So I guess that's okay since I didn't have anything to say anyway. Also, my dad's surgery was successful!!! Yay! He's home now and when I got back this evening, he was up and about, cutting fruits for juice. He'd been complaining of chest pains since last week, and 2 days ago the doctors found a problem with one of his arteries so he had surgery yesterday to fix it and now he's fine. Awesomeness FTW. Oh i borrowed storybooks from the bedok library today. I couldn't help myself. I needed my fantasy worlds back. I told myself to go in and just get 2 books, but I ended up getting 4 and my bag was super heavy. Yep, that's it I have nothing else to say.

21 Apr 10

Whoo I'm BACK!!! Nearly fully recovered from my flu. Tomorrow I should be as good as new. Back to cracking jokes and rebutting people like Keith again. Keith and I kept poking fun at each other during classes. Oh that reminds me. We had 2 lectures in a row today, in the same lecture theatre. The first one was conducted by Ms Lina. She was calm, cool, collected, overall very professional without being too formal. The next lecturer that came in, wow you can feel the difference in respect even before he (the lecturer) spoke a word. And the lack of respect grew as the class went on. Only one word to describe him: eccentric. At the very least, he was humourous. But funny in a slapstick way, meaning you would laugh at him as you would a clown. I can't really explain it, his lecture has to be experienced. I'm not saying he's bad, I'm saying he's unique and eccentric. Quite fun, truth be told.

I just had a long chat with that certain somebody. And I mean, looonnnnggg.

20 Apr 10

Good day today. I'm feeling much better than yesterday, although I'm still coughing and I still have spasms. My fever and aches seem to have cleared up. Okay now school stuff.

Had a lot of fun today. Programming is more fun than I thought. I'm able to understand everything the tutors and lecturers say. And when my classmate clarify something with me, I'm able to explain it to them. We're gonna play a business game next week.

Yesterday I slept a total of 14 hours from 5pm to this morning at 8am. I'm amazed I could sleep that long without feeling like I slept too much. I'm much better than yesterday. My flu has dwindled down to just a cough and painful eyeballs. Lol. I am drinking alot of water too, like I keep telling a certain somebody. I should be fully recovered by thursday. At least my appetite's back. Oh that reminds me. The Chicken Rice at the IT canteen sucks. I ordered white chicken thigh today. It was bland, and they didn't even remove the feathers properly. How disgusting is that??? Some people just don't take pride in what they do. I'm gonna go to a different canteen tomorrow.

19 Apr 10

9.08am
I'm at TP now. My class starts at 10am. I'm now wondering why I let daddy send me here so early. Zzz. Plus I've developed a slight cough. I took medicine this morning, and now I'm a bit sleepy. Zzz. Sigh...

10.46pm.
I've developed a full fledged flu. Huh. Say that 5 times fast. Lol. Anyway, I came back at 4.30 then took my medicine and went to sleep. I only just got up half an hour ago. I should be better in the morning. My body is strong. I recover fast. I really don't feel like missing classes tomorrow.
